Extract of Information on the Business Register in uncertified form

Extract of information on the Business Register in uncertified form is delivered over the Internet through Gov HK in electronic form. You can apply for the electronic document at the Website: www.gov.hk/etax. After payment of the prescribed fee is made and confirmed by the financial institution, the electronic extract of information, which shows the current information of the business and its operator, if applicable, will be delivered instantly by online mode. The electronic extract can also be viewed on screen and printed out onto paper up to the end of the day following the date of application.
   
To enable business operators to obtain their Business Registration Certificates early and to ensure that changes in business particulars are updated to the Business Register as soon as possible, unless there are reasonable grounds for doubt to be cast, the information will only be summarily checked and will not be verified before a new entry or an amendment is recorded. Users should be aware that the information on the Business Register is for reference only.
   
As the records of the following types of businesses have either been removed or are not yet recorded on the Business Register, please do not make any application in respect of these cases:-
 
  - Businesses that have ceased to be carried on for 10 or more years
  - New businesses for which the registration process has not yet been fully completed.
     
You may download a specimen of an electronic extract of information on the business register (PDF: 58KB) for reference. The specimen is saved in pdf format which can be viewed and printed by using the Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or above and Adobe Asian Fonts Packs which are available free at the Adobe Systems Incorporated website.
     



Certified extracts of information on the Business Register

A ¡§Certified extract of Information on the Business Register¡¨ issued by the IRD is made up of the following 2 components:
     
  1. a copy of the original ¡§application for registration¡¨ submitted by the business operator; and
  2. a full history of the amendments made in respect of the particulars set out in the original application by the IRD according to ¡§notifications of change¡¨ submitted by the business operator.
     
To enable business operators to obtain their Business Registration Certificates early and to ensure that changes in business particulars are updated to the Business Register as soon as possible, unless there are reasonable grounds for doubt to be cast, the information will only be summarily checked and will not be verified before a new entry or an amendment is recorded. Users should be aware that the information on the Business Register is for reference only.
     
If you want to obtain an extract of information of a business or any one of its branches on the Business Register, you can apply via the Website : www.gov.hk/etax or complete a form IRBR 37 and pay the prescribed fee. You should state the business registration number and the name of the business on the application form. If you do not know the business registration number of the business, you may look it up either from the website www.gov.hk/etax or by making use of the self-service Business Registration Number Enquiry System provided by the Business Registration Office at 4/F of Revenue Tower.
     
The document will be available for collection after 11:00 a.m. on the next working day after the date of payment.

Certified copies or Duplicates of a valid Business Registration Certificate


You can obtain either a certified copy or just a plain duplicate of a valid Business Registration Certificate of a company from the Business Registration Office. You can apply via the Website : www.gov.hk/etax or complete form IRBR 37 and pay the prescribed fee.
   
The documents will be available for collection after 11:00 a.m. on the next working day after the date of payment.
   
You may download a specimen of a certified copy of a valid Business Registration Certificate (PDF:846KB) for reference. The specimen is saved in pdf format which can be viewed and printed by using the Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or above and Adobe Asian Fonts Packs which are available free at the Adobe Systems Incorporated website.


 




Collection of Application Form & Payment

You can obtain Form IRBR37 from the Business Registration Office. The completed form should be submitted with the prescribed fee. If you apply in person, you can pay the fee by cheques, cash or EPS at the following collection office.

    Monday to Friday 8:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
