Hong Kong to host the fifth Conference of Belt and Road Initiative Tax Administration Cooperation Forum in 2024
Hong Kong will host the fifth Conference of the Belt and Road Initiative Tax Administration Cooperation Forum (BRITACOF) in September 2024 as a founding member jurisdiction of the Belt and Road Initiative Tax Administration Cooperation Mechanism (BRITACOM). The conference will be attended by the heads and representatives of the tax administrations of the Belt and Road jurisdictions as well as representatives of international organisations, academic institutions and businesses.
The conference hopes to provide a platform to facilitate tax administration cooperation and capacity building among the tax administrations supportive of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as their effective dialogue with other interested parties such as international organisations, academic institutions and businesses. This will enshrine Hong Kong’s role as a key functional platform for the Belt and Road Initiative and allow the city to contribute to the building of a sustainable tax environment.
The BRITACOF is hosted every 12 months by member tax administrations in rotation. The fourth conference was hosted by Georgia and held in Tbilisi in September 2023.

Established in 2019 under the lead of the State Taxation Administration, the BRITACOM is a non-profit official mechanism for tax administration cooperation amongst the jurisdictions that subscribe to the Belt and Road Initiative. With the vision of facilitating cross-border trade and investment and fostering regional economic growth, the BRITACOM aims at removing tax obstacles and building a growth-friendly tax environment through cooperation and sharing of best practices on tax administration matters, thereby contributing to the fulfilment of inclusive and sustainable development.
