Filing tax return on time

A spokesman for the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) today (May 24) reminded taxpayers to file their individual tax returns within the next week if they have not done so. For sole proprietors, the filing deadline is August 2.

Individual tax returns sent out in early May were enclosed with the "Guide to completion of tax return." To further facilitate taxpayers in completing tax returns, the IRD will provide a special counter enquiry service tomorrow and on Sunday (May 25 and 26) from 1 pm to 5 pm at the following offices:

(MTR Wan Chai Station Exit 'A5')

2. IRD Kowloon Sub-office

1/F, Mong Kok Government Offices, 10 Luen Wan Street, Mong Kok

(adjacent to KCR Mong Kok Station)

3. IRD Tsuen Wan Sub-office

1/F, Tsuen Wan Station Multi-storey Carpark Building

(adjacent to MTR Tsuen Wan Station)

Taxpayers can also visit the IRD homepage (www.info.gov.hk/ird) for the demonstration on the completion of tax return and other relevant information.

"During the month of May, they can also call 187 8022 (8:15 am to 7 pm on weekdays and 9 am to 5 pm on Saturdays) or 187 8222 ( 5 pm to 7 pm on weekdays and noon to 5 pm on Saturdays) for enquiries ," the spokesman said.
